About Christ Community

Jesus. Community. Mission.

In that order. Jesus first, because newness of life comes through his gospel. Then community, because he is big enough to bring diverse people together. Then mission, because this isn’t for us only. He sends us out to make a positive difference in his name. Christ does not destroy his creation; he redeems it by the power of his grace. We invite you to get involved!

Identity | Who we are:

Christ Community is a family on Jesus’ mission of making disciples through connecting and growing people in a vital relationship with God through Jesus, in community with others, and on God’s mission in our community and around the world.

Family | We are children of God who live and care for each other as a family (Genesis 12:1-3; John 1:12-13; Romans 12:10-16).
Missionaries | We are sent by God to restore all things to himself (John 1:14; 20:21; Colossians 1:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21).
Servants | We are servants of God who serve others as a way of life (Matthew 20:25-28; 25:31-46; John 13:1-17; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Peter 2:16).
Learners | We are disciples of Jesus who take responsibility for our own growth and the growth of others (Luke 2:52; Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:11-13; 2 Timothy 2:2).

Rhythms | How we live:

Pulpit | We proclaim, experience and intersect with God’s Story of redemption in Jesus as we weave it through our own stories.
God has been unfolding his Story since before time began. We believe we are participants in the Story and need to understand it and see how our lives intersect with it. Therefore, we regularly reacquaint ourselves with the Story by interacting with God’s Word. We look for ways and times to tell the Story often. We also take time to listen to others’ stories and help them find their lives within God’s Story (Genesis 1:1-2; John 1:1; Psalm 1; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). We set aside regular times to listen to God both backward and forward and respond to him through song (Mark 1:35-37; John 16:7-15; Hebrews 1:1-3; Romans 1:20).

Table | We gather around the table for community.
The table is where we become friends and where the gospel is applied to our lives. We regularly eat meals with others to invite them into the community of God and disciple them in a life of dependence on God. Whether it’s a table of two friends at Starbucks or a handful of couples meeting in a living room, we share stories around the table and celebrate all that God is doing in and among us (Leviticus 23; Matthew 6:11; 26:17-30; Acts 2:42-47; Romans 12:13; Hebrews 10:24-25).

Square | We go into the community and partner with the community as our mission.
In response to the gospel and all that Jesus has done for us, we gather in the town square. It’s there that we gather to serve the needs of our community and the needs of the world. We gather to love the broken, feed the poor, clothe the naked, and bless those in need (James 1:27; Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 6:8).
